Chuck and I went down to watch the Lifetime Fitness Triathlon on Saturday and cheer on a couple friends. As someone who doesn't swim very well, it was pretty impressive watching the pro's blow out of the water and onto the bike without looking like they were working hard. The best part though was watching the waves of amateurs going out on the bike leg. It was an amazing mix of equipment and people. There were fully decked out time trial rigs with carbon disc wheels and mountain bikes with racks on the back. I saw comfort bikes with super-upright positions and people blazing past on 30-year old ten speeds. The best part was, it didn't matter what they were riding. Everyone was out to have a good time and prove to themselves they could finish.

Our friends Nick and Stacia put in good times, and Stacia was kind enough to share her post ride food with Chuck and myself. That huge table of bread, cookies, two kinds of pasta, fruit, and even hot dogs was almost enough to get me to enter a triathlon. Almost. There's still that little matter of swimming...
