Twas the week before Christmas and all round the shop, The Salsa crew was ecstatic for the new frame order to drop. The Dos niners were hung and painted with care. In hopes that in 06’ they would be seen everywhere. With Reimer snuggled all snug in his bed, Visions of espresso danced in Jason’s head. With Bobby in his buckle and Chuck in his tee, They all settled down round their big Christmas tree. When out on in the back there arose such a clatter, They sprang up in an instant to see what was the matter. Away to receiving they flew like a flash, Knocking the tree to the floor with an ominous crash. The moon reflected off the new fallen snow, Giving the luster of mid-day to objects below. When what to their wondering eyes should appear, But a giant B.O.B. trailer and lots of bike gear. But twas the rider that gave them all reason to pause, As they suddenly realized… it was Salsa Clause! More rapid than eagles on studded tires He came, He whistled and shouted and called them by name. “What’s shaken’ there Miker, Bobby and Jason, How goes it Chucker with this seasons cross racin’? To the tops of the hills and the valley below , On to sweet Northern single-track switchbacks I go.” And then he took off flinging snow at the crew, With a trailer full of gear Salsa Clause flew. And after a few moments they heard on the roof, the sound of each studded knob tracking him true. Chuck gazed up at him speechless his mouth wide agape, Then they saw he was pointing at Salsa Clauses’ cape. Emblazoned upon it was a great white pepper globe, That waved in the breeze and flashed like a strobe. He was dressed in red velvet from helmet to cleat, Red neoprene booties warmed his chilled feet. His panniers were bursting with all sorts of toys, The kind that give smiles to grown up bike girls and boys. His eyes-how they twinkled! His dimples how merry, His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry. A handlebar mustache curled up to his ears, His worn hands stained from all his shop years. The stump of a pipe he clenched tight in his teeth, And the smoke encircled his head like a wreath. He tossed them down gifts wrapped with care from above, Each one contained bits of two wheeler love. Then he jumped on his steed and pedaled away And Miker exclaimed “Gee wiz what a day!” Then Salsa Clause shouted as he vanished from sight “A spicy Christmas to all…and to all a good night!”
May you have a Spicy Christmas!! -Pepperman and the Salsa crew
