Some Fast New Babies

Congratulations go out to Salsa pro-rider Jeff Hall, his wife Melissa, and son Owen on the birth of their daughter, Ava Rose Hall, this past Saturday. Jeff does a killer job representing Salsa wherever he is racing in the country. And he does it while working full time and raising a family. Proof of the saying "where there is the will, there's the way".

Congrats also go out to Gene and Jennifer Oberiller on the birth of their daughter this past Sunday. Sorry, but I haven't heard the baby's name yet. Gene and Jennifer are the owners of One On One Bicycle Studio in downtown Minneapolis and two of the folks who help make the Minnesota bike scene as fun and sometimes fast as it is.

Two new speedy babies in two days. Salsa's prediction is for a very, very fast Expert Womens class in Minnesota about 16 years from now. Look out folks cuz here they come!

1st Annual Salsa Cycles Chili Cookoff

Beans, beans, and more beans. Some chili powder. A bunch of chopped vegies here and some meat there.

Salsa Cycles hosted our 1st ever Chili Cookoff this afternoon in our parent company's lunchroom. The judges comprised of the Salsa staff and representatives from many other cycling manufacturer powerhouses.

Fifteen Gladiators Of Chili braved fierce competition and deafening smacktalk while bringing in their homecooked chili batches. Creative names abounded. Mad Cow Chili, Magic Fruit and Turkey Chili, Infernolicious Chili, Minnesota Mud Chili, Porkey's Revenge Chili, and Carcass Free Vegan Delight Chili took on the intimidating likes of Blackbean Seafood Chili with shrimp & bay scallops over cilantro-lime rice. Yowza...

The judges moved from crockpot to crockpot with reckless abandon. There wasn't a fire in the building then, but there is gonna be one later on if you get my drift!

When the ballots were counted, three contestants had elevated themselves above the chili-making masses. They each received custom woodburned cutting board trophies to celebrate their placings, while the other competitors received Salsa t-shirts.

First place went to Rich Tauer of Power for his fine white bean chicken chili: Chili Blanco y Picante
Second place was rewarded to Brad Crosby Stills & Nash for his oh-so-spicy Infernolicious Chili (best washed down with a Negro Modelo beer-Oh, how I wish!)
Third place went to Bill BillyDee Domeier for his very beefy, non-contagious Mad Cow Chili

Big props to all the constestants for their efforts. They now have 51 weeks to innovate and perfect their recipes for next year. Check out the photos below.

Our Site Is Updated!

Bravo to our web maestros Ryan and CoFlo for getting our site updated with our new Frames and Components. Next up, our Clothing section will get the update so stay tuned for that.

In the meantime, take a trip through the Frames section of the site and check out our new goods.

Then, shut off the computer for a while and dream of the coming Spring.

Cheers,
Kid

Dos Niner's Are Here!!!

We've just received our first batch of Dos Niner frames and are very excited about them. Our engineer Josh, worked pretty darn hard on these things and they are sweet. 700c (twenty-nine inch) wheels, pivotless Scandium softtail with 1" inch of rear travel to take the edge off.

Our website is close to being updated with our new offerings, but hopefully this photo and information sheet pdf will tied you over.

Mother Nature is tweakin' here right now so it is 50 outside today in Minnesota. Snow is melting and we're all be suckered into wishing Spring was on its way. Something tells me we've still go some cold days ahead.

Enjoy the weekend folks.

Salsa Partners with Ore To Shore Race in 2005

Everyone at Salsa is excited that we are returning as sponsors of the Ore To Shore in 2005. We were a sponsor this past season and came away impressed with the event.

This years race date is August 20th in beautiful country surrounding Marquette, Michigan. For more info, you should check out the Ore To Shore site.

Good hard racing (or relaxed fun racing!) await you. Tons of kids events. Absolutely stunning scenery. And a hearty prize giveaway as well. Salsa will be giving away a frame and a whole heck of a lot of other stuff.

We hope to see you there.
