Putting The Time In
So I got another early morning ride each of the last 2 days. Believe it or not, it is actually getting easier to wake up and go.
Jason and I were talking about how it is really all about putting the time in on the bike. Long hours on the bike helps you come around physically on the bike so much. But as many of you know, long rides can really be a precious commodity.
So I (and hopefully you) grab the riding opportunities where I can...and hour here...an hour and a half there.
Believe it or not, but it will actually start to add up. Heck, four 1-1/2 hour rides adds up to 6 hours. Not ideal for building endurance, but it will definitely get the proper muscles developing. Fit in a little heart rate work to give the cardio and lungs some work, and it'll start to pay off.
Turn one or two of those short rides into 3 or 4 hour jaunts, and the benefits will really start to pop.
Watch what you're eating and the pounds will come off. Slowly perhaps, but that is the best way to take them off anyway.
Tomorrow I've got clearance for an early morning departure on the bike and school dropoff is covered. Four hours out on the Dos is what is in store. Time to see how the legs are really coming along.
So I'll sit here today watching the weather outside, hoping these gray skies move along without raining on my parade...because tomorrow I get to continue 'putting my time in'.
Find a way to ride. -Kid
