The gag order has been lifted!
That's right folks, I am back to the blog. It has been so long since I've posted anything, it feels like they banned me from posting.
Since my last post nearly 174 months ago, not much has changed. However, about 7 weeks ago I decided to go car-less. That's right my little minions, threw the ole Mazda onto CarSoup and decided to be car free. Word to the wise: Don't sell your car in the middle of February when you live in Minnesota. Wait til....oh, July. My first week without the car saw temps drop to -10F with windchills close to -30F. Yeah. FUN. Out of the heated seat and into the fire, so to speak. Selling the car did present a great opportunity to rack up more miles on the prototype of our new 25th Anniversary Limited Edition frameset. Wait 'til you folks see it. It is totally kicka*$. I can't tell you much about it but I will say it has two wheels. (Don't tell anyone)
If you happen to be at Sea Otter next weekend, stop by the Salsa booth and check it out. I, unfortunately, do not get to go to Sea Otter. I have to answer the Salsa phones and check pman email. (While Bobby suns his buttocks...I mean dreadlocks in the Monterey sun.) Not that I don't like talkin' to you all, it's just they don't let me talk to the general public for a reason. I promised my boss, however, that I would be nice on the phones while they are grubbin' on surf 'n turf on Cannery Row.
Life is full of compromise and we all make sacrifices. While it is true that I am the only one to stay behind and watch the fort while the others are in sunny California, it is also true that I am the only one that gets to travel to Italy at the end of April for the Garda Bike Festival Yeah... this is a rough job.
I know, I know, don't worry. My trip won't be all work. My wife and I will be staying on in Italy after the festival to take a little honeymoon. (Don't worry ladies', I am sure she will get sick of me in a few years) ;) (Kidding, Honey.)
For those of you attending the Garda Festival, please be sure to stop by the Cosmic Sports booth to speak to some English and bikes with me. Cosmic Sports, if you already didn't know, is our distributor in Germany.
I guess that is enough for now. See that? No one got insulted. No feelings were hurt.
More later. With no one watching me most of next week, I will have plenty of time to post between beers and pizza. Shoot me an email or give me a call on the Salsa line, I will be quite lonely here in my little cube.
Later! Chuck

Mountains, music and the people that love them.
So... This past week I cashed in my frequent flyer miles and headed west. For a change of pace I decided to leave my Ala Carte in the garage and instead get out the snowboard for 5 days of white fluffy goodness. The destination was a beautiful condo in Mammoth Lakes California. It sorta ended up being a "guys weekend" as we recruited three cousins, two uncles and a few friends of the family to come along. I will admit that after 4 days of a foot or more of fresh pow my legs are tanked. Not that I expect any sympathy...in fact quite the opposite. You should be jealous because let me tell you it was some of the best snow I've ever ridden. Oddly enough, whipping through the trees at Mammoth felt very akin to ripping up a great section of single track. I can't say that I've ever had quite so much fun on a board. So where does music come in you ask? Well last week not only marked a great vacation for yours truly, but also the release date of my bands new album. After months of hard work and stress loads of biblical proportions the album is in stores and ready to sell. So.. if you are a hard rock music person and want to support bands of other bike geeks like yourself check out the link below and order yourself a copy. It will make you proud to wear your Bobby Buckle and spiked bracelet.

And with that I'm outa stuff to say. Normally words are something I'm not in short supply of but I'm still going through a bit of mountain withdrawal. Later and out

Recent Press
If any of you readers have picked up the April issue of Outside magazine, you hopefully saw the Dos Niner featured in the 2006's Best New Bikes Feature. This is a cool article, but I bet it was even more fun to do the testing. How's going to Tucson with 26 bikes to test sound? Thanks Outside for picking our Dos Niner as the Lust Bike in the 29" Category and for this opportunity.
Also, here is a recent press release regarding our 25th Anniversary.
Salsa Cycles to Celebrate 25th Anniversary at Sea Otter Classic BLOOMINGTON, MN March 20, 2006 - Salsa Cycles will celebrate its 25th Anniversary at the Sea Otter Classic in Monterey, California April 6-9. As part of the commemoration, the company will release a limited edition 25th Anniversary frameset, give its fans t-shirts, caps and other items during Schwag-O-Rama, and put on family-friendly events for children.
"We're excited to celebrate at Sea Otter,"said Mike Riemer, Salsa marketing manager. "It's a great opportunity to launch our new frameset to real cycling enthusiasts and the media. It will be nice to include many of the folks that have supported Salsa through the years. Plus, Monterey's weather in April usually beats Minnesota hands down!"
Featuring a special fiesta-theme paint job with matching fork and CroMoto stem, only 100 of the limited edition 25th Anniversary model will be produced worldwide. Salsa will unveil the frameset at 1pm on Thursday, April 6 at booth 309.
"This is the frame Salsa would build first if our brand were just beginning now," said Jason Boucher, Salsa general manager."With it, we acknowledge both Salsa's history and the progression of cycling since that time."
Founded in 1981 in Petaluma, California, Salsa quickly earned a reputation for innovative frame and component designs. Many products from its original line up are still offered, like the Ala Carte and La Raza frames, CroMoto stems and Flip-Off skewers. After Quality Bicycle Products purchased Salsa in 1997, the company moved to Minnesota and broadened its offerings, developing a range of products with new materials and technology.
Salsa Cycles is a premier manufacturer of cycling frames, components and clothing. For 25 years, the privately owned, Minneapolis based company has built a reputation on its exceptional frames and related products. Salsa can be found on the Web at www.salsacycles.com.
Thanks fall all the support.

Not only has it snowed more in the last week than in the prior 2 months, but some presents in brown boxes were delivered yesterday! I know all you folks out there that wait for the Brown UPS Santa to delivery your boxes filled with bike parts know what I'm talking about.
These presents are for Sea Otter which is quickly approaching. We are packing up and preparing our stuff. We are trying some new things this year and it's going to be fun. If your going to Sea Otter, you won't want to miss it. We will also be showing off some new products.
Check back next week for a schedule of events.
Have a great weekend everyone.

Flying Solo
If any of you emailed pepperman or called the Salsa hotline today, you probably know that our response time isn't so hot today. I'm flying solo.
Mike is leaving for New Zealand for 3 weeks with his family. Chuck is in Taiwan for work. Bobby is home with a sick daughter.
That leave me the sole Salsa dude in Salsa Land. On top of that, it was a very big day. A couple of big dealer things going on, a bad shipment of product that will require 100% inspection, and the second shipment of our Delgado 29er Disc rim hit stock. Wow!
The rims sold out in just over an hour. It was a hectic couple of hours filling orders, fixing orders and fielding calls about missing this order. Yikes! I'm sorry we couldn't meet demand for this product. We are trying. A very large order is due in 3 weeks, followed by even a larger order 3-4 weeks after that. I hope to fill the pipeline soon. Thanks to all for the support and understanding.
Well, I better get back to work.

See You At The Expo
Those in the Minnesota region, come down and visit with us this weekend at the Bicycle and Travel Expo at the Minneapolis Convention Center. The Home and Garden Show is also going on this weekend there as well.
There is a test track set up inside the building with some wooden 'mini' stunts to roll over and what appears to be a very cool antique bike collection on display.
Salsa will be there showing off some of our wares as well.
The hours for the expo are:
Saturday, 9am - 8pm
Sunday, 9am - 5pm
We hope to see you there. Enjoy your weekend!
