After four years of highly acclaimed success in the 29’er world, Salsa proudly introduces Big Mama, our 4” travel, big-wheeled steed.

Designed for epic days on epic terrain, Big Mama delivers Performance, Reliability, and Durability.

Crafted of custom-drawn scandium tubing, we’ve done our best to design an all-day bike that feels just right, rides just right, and looks…well, pretty damn sexy.

The flexing seatstay, single pivot design pedals well seated or standing while the custom tuned Fox Float RP2 air shock, tuned flexing seatstays, low linkage ratio, and low shock pressure provide a bottomless feel on bigger hits.

In an effort to keep your wheels where you want them, lateral stiffness has been maximized through tube butting and shaping, removal of the rear end pivot, a one-piece linkage, and the use of large weld areas in critical places.

Our quest to build the best didn’t end with the frame design either. We’ve chosen parts designed to deliver premier performance for the long run: Cane Creek S-3 headset. Fox F29RL 100mm fork and custom-tuned Float RP2 air shock. Kenda Nevegal 2.35” tires. Race Face Deus XC crankset and seatpost. Shimano XT drivetrain and hydraulic disc brakes. WTB Rocket V saddle.

Of course, some fine Salsa parts complete the kit: Juegos de Fuegos grips. Flip-Lock seatpost clamp. Pro Moto XC riser bar. Semi 29’er Disc Rims.

The whole package comes together as a bike made for long days in big terrain. Lots of travel to soak up what the big tires can’t. Kind of makes you wish you were riding right now, doesn’t it?
