Do you sponsor riders? How do I submit a résumé for sponsorship?
Currently we find our sponsored riders through our Salsa Authorized Dealers. That way we wind up with a rider who represents both Salsa and our dealer well. Still think you’d be a good ambassador for Salsa? Find an Authorized Dealer near you and approach them about riding for Salsa, but be prepared to explain how your sponsorship will benefit all involved.

What is your warranty on your bikes, frames, and components?
Salsa Cycles Limited Warranty as of 5/17/2007
This Salsa® product is warranted against defects in materials and workmanship for five years from the date of retail purchase of the product, subject to the limitations detailed below. This limited warranty is expressly limited to the repair or replacement of the original product, at the option of Salsa Cycles, and is the sole remedy of the warranty. This limited warranty applies only to the original purchaser of the Salsa® product and is not transferable. In no event shall Salsa Cycles be liable for any loss, inconvenience or damage, whether direct, incidental or consequential or otherwise resulting from breach of any express or implied warranty or condition, of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or otherwise with respect to this product except as set forth herein. This warranty does not cover the following:
- Damage due to improper assembly or follow-up maintenance or lack of skill, competence or experience of the user or assembler
- Products that have been modified, neglected, used in competition or for commercial purposes, misused or abused, involved in accidents or anything other than normal use
- Damage or deterioration to the surface finish, aesthetics or appearance of the product
- Normal wear and tear
- Labor required to remove and/or refit and re-adjust the product within the bicycle assembly
This warranty gives the consumer specific legal rights, and those rights and other rights may vary from state to state.
The little black plastic thingy on my skewers is worn out. Where can I buy a new one?
Most shops that sell our skewers will have replacement little black plastic things, otherwise known as Delrin cam followers. If not, just drop pman@salsacycles.com an email and we’ll be happy to mail you a pair. You can expect 5-7 years of use out of them before they wear out.
What is the difference between your Stainless, Ti, and Suspension Flip-Offs?
The front and rear rods on our Stainless skewers are made out of stainless steel, while the Ti skewers use titanium rods front and rear. Pretty straightforward so far, right? The Suspension Flip-Offs use a stainless steel front rod paired with a titanium rear rod making them ideal for use with hardtail mountain bikes with a front suspension forks. We don’t recommend using titanium skewers on front or rear suspended wheels.
I don’t see your products in my local shop. Can I buy them straight from you?
We don’t sell directly to consumers because we want to support the backbone of our sport, the independent bicycle dealers (IBD’s). If your favorite local shop doesn’t have what you’re looking for in stock, just ask that they order it. The majority of United States bike shops order from our distributor, QBP, so chances are your local shop can get the Salsa product you want.
I live in another country than the United States. How do I buy your wonderful bikes, frames, components, and clothing?
We have many international distributors and importers and are adding more all the time. Check out the Dealer Locator to see if there is someone in your country. Or perhaps there is a distributor close by who will sell to you.
Where are your frames made?
All our frames are designed here in Minnesota. They are then handmade in small numbers in Taiwan. Our production facilities there are the most modern shops we’ve seen with amazingly experienced welders, fabricators, and painters.
Should I buy a steel frame or a scandium frame?
First you need to consider your intended use. If you are looking for all-day comfort and life-long durability, then steel is your game. It has that old-world mystique coupled with a legendary history to give a ride quality like no other. This can be choice of aficionados and hard-core racers alike.
If you want light weight, stiff, and fast, no-one-on-the-block-can-catch-you-speed then scandium is right up your alley. We design our scandium frames to be stiff, but not harsh. They will climb, sprint, and accelerate out of that last corner like you tapped the afterburners. And just wait till they see you’ve got another gear going into the final 100 meters.
I just bought a Salsa Campeón, Las Cruces, or Chili Con Crosso frameset and I think the seat tube is dented?
Don’t panic, we intentionally put a relief on the drive side of the seat tube just above the Salsa scandium decal. With our wide 35mm seat tube (making the bottom bracket 20% stiffer laterally) this relief allows the front derailleur enough clearance to move into the small ring if you’re running a triple chainring crankset. The relief is made in our scandium tube before heat-treating and has no negative effect on the strength or integrity of the frame.
Why won’t my Eccentric Bottom Bracket (EBB) turn on my El Mariachi?
When we designed the El Mariachi we took a couple steps to improve its function. We had our EBB unit drilled so that the plastic cable guide mounting bolt (on the underside of your bottom bracket shell) threads right into it. This serves two purposes. First, when setting your bike up with gears it positions the bottom bracket exactly where our engineers wanted it when they designed the frame. This means your front derailleur will be perfectly aligned. Secondly, it is an additional prevention against a slipping EBB (although we haven’t had that problem on the El Mariachi’s). If you are setting your El Mariachi up as a singlespeed, simply remove the plastic cable guide and bolt. It will not rotate freely when the EBB has been loosened.
I’m having trouble mounting my tire on your Delgado Disc and Delgado Race rims?
The nice thing about our Delgado Disc and Delgado Race rims is that it is easy to mount and remove tires without tire levers. When mounting the tire, don’t try to seat the tire bead by using high pressure. Instead, seat the tire bead by hand after pumping 25 – 30 lbs of pressure in the tire. Once you’ve got the bead seated, then pump the tire up to your desired pressure (keeping in mind of course the tire manufacturer’s recommendation).

I need a custom stem. Will you make one for me?
Sorry, but we are no longer in the custom stem market. There are a small number of custom builders out there that we would encourage you to contact. Fire up Google and see what it spits out!
Can I get my frame painted differently than what you show on your website?
Sorry, but we don’t do custom paint. First off, we like our paint and graphics! Give them a shot first. You could take any of our frames to a custom painter of course. That is your decision though as there’s no going back once the paint starts flying!
Do you offer touch-up paint?
Sorry. But the answer is nope. What we’d recommend is taking your frame to an automotive paint shop supplier. They should be able to make you a pretty good match so you can cover up your scratches.
Where is Salsa located?
Ahhh…we are located in Bloomington, Minnesota. Minnesota? You sound like you should be a California company? Well, we once were a California company but when the original owner sold, Salsa was moved to Minnesota. We dream up all our future products, and design and engineer them, here. Manufacturing of our products happens in a handful of countries, including the United States. Bloomington is a suburb of Minneapolis, but we find it much more understandable if we just say we are from Minneapolis, Minnesota…a fine city by the way.
How do I contact Salsa?

Do you have a Crash Replacement Policy?
Yes. If you crash and destroy your frame we offer a discounted purchase on a replacement frame. Please take your frame to your local dealer and have them contact us to work out a solution and get you back up and running again as quickly as possible. You must go through a bike dealer to utilize our Crash Replacement Policy.
Is there a rider weight limit on your frames?
No, but we do suggest that you use common sense. After all, your frame is an important part of keeping your body intact and in good working order. Think about what you weigh? Think about your riding style and where you ride? Then look at the frame offerings before you and decide what makes the most sense in the long term. This doesn’t just apply to Salsa brand frames. The smart end user considers this no matter which brand of bicycle he or she is choosing.
Salsa says its frames are designed around a certain length of travel fork. Can I run a fork with more travel than what Salsa recommends?
No. You should not ride with a longer than recommended travel fork. We state the recommended fork length because the frame is designed to be used with that length for two important reasons.
One: the bike will handle best when used with the recommended fork length.
Two: Frames are designed around a certain length fork so that they have the proper strength requirements to withstand the use they will occur. When you put a longer than recommended fork onto a bike, you increase the leverage the fork is applying to the frame, and thereby increase the load that the frame needs to handle. The frame may not be able to handle this increased load and could then fail.
Please use common sense when building up any bicycle. Frames are designed with specific intent. Don’t try to turn your frame into something it isn’t. This is true for all bicycle brands, not just Salsa.
How do you measure Salsa road handlebars?
Salsa measures our handlebars from Center-to-Center at the widest part of the lower extension.
How do you measure Salsa stems?
Salsa measures stem angle (or rise) by stating the angle of rise the stem has when placed on a vertical steerer tube.
Salsa measures stem length (or reach) by stating the distance from the Center of Steerer Clamp-to-Center of Bar Clamp.
Can I put bar ends on Salsa Pro Moto Carbon handlebars?
Sorry, but no. You should not use bar ends on our carbon handlebars. They are not designed for bar end use.
Can I put aero bars on Salsa carbon road handlebars?
Sorry, but no. Salsa carbon road bars were not designed to accept aero bars add-ons.
What air pressure should I use in the Relish shock of the Dos Niner?
The Relish shock is a low-pressure air/oil shock. It is air adjustable. As with any suspension setting, you need to try different settings to find your personal optimal choice. Try these recommendations as a starting point.
Rider under 125 lbs: 10 psi
Rider under 150 lbs: 15 psi
Rider under 175 lbs: 20 psi
Rider under 200 lbs: 25 psi
Rider under 225 lbs: 30 psi
Remember, the Dos Niner is a one-inch travel soft tail. You should be using full rear travel frequently during your normal off-road ride.
Which Salsa chainring guards replace my outer chainring?
Salsa Trials Guards, Crossing Guards, and Ring Dingers all replace your outer chainring, making that chainring un-useable.
