Additional Features

Split Pivot® Rear Suspension

The concentric rear axle pivot in conjunction with precise wheel link, brake link, and control link placement, results in several performance gains: Exceptional bump compliance / Maximum traction / Incredible pedaling efficiency / Predictable braking / Improved frame geometry due to the elimination of unwanted suspension movement during acceleration and braking

Endurance-Specific Suspension Travel

Incredible small bump sensitivity and supple braking performance are packed into a very efficient and supportive 80mm of rear wheel travel. A progressive mid-stroke keeps the Spearfish well supported in and out of corners, and the last bit of travel ramps nicely, giving the impression that the Spearfish has more travel than it does. When combined with the benefits of 29er wheels and tires, the tuned anti-squat of the Split Pivot® suspension on the Spearfish creates a bike that is extremely efficient when you are on the gas and still remains supple enough to eat up the bumps along the way, saving your body valuable energy for later in the race/event/day/week. The frame is designed and balanced for a 100mm travel, 51mm offset front fork, because your arms have less travel than your legs do

Ample Tire Clearance

The Spearfish is designed to use 29er tires ranging from 2.0 to 2.35" in width

Spearfish Geometry

The Spearfish is a short-travel endurance racing bike that is surprisingly adept on the race course or out on the open trail. A 69.3° head angle paired with a 51mm offset fork keeps the angle of attack slack enough to offer very confident descending (for a race bike) and stability at high speeds over rough terrain, but still keep the steering-feel sharp and precise. A low stance and short 437mm chainstays lend to excellent cornering performance and keep this big-wheeler sprite and lively feeling

High-Modulus Carbon Fiber Front Triangle & Seatstays

This material offers improved stiffness, better vibration damping, excellent toughness and weight savings compared to other materials. This frame offers 340g weight savings over the aluminum version. AL-6066-T6 heat-treated chainstays are paired for durability

Interior Junction Control Molding Technology

We use interior molds at all the main front triangle junctions during layup and curing. This allows for precise control of wall thickness and inner wall smoothness in these areas. This process increases compaction and reduces voids and wrinkles in critical high-stress zones. The end result is a high-quality, consistent-performing carbon frame

Full-Size Bottle Compatible

Front triangle is capable of fitting a full-size (28 oz) water bottle

PressFit 41 x 92mm Bottom Bracket

Compatible with all 1x and 2x standard mountain cranks, both GXP and 24mm spindle types

Modular Front Derailleur Bracket

The high direct-mount front derailleur bracket is removable, with a smooth cover blank to take its place, when 1x drivetrain is setup, providing a clean look and saving a few extra grams in the process

Replaceable Derailleur Hanger

Extra sold separately, Salsa Split Pivot® Top Cap Dropout Tool included with frame for field changes without the need to carry a 22mm cone wrench

Replaceable Sealed Cartridge Bearings

17287-2RS (qty 4), 6801-2RS (qty 4)

Tapered Headtube

The modern standard for mountain bikes, increases front end frame and fork stiffness without adding significant weight
