Additional Features

6066-T6 Aluminum Tubeset

Top-shelf, double and triple-butted, heat-treated 6066-T6 aluminum tubing is used throughout the frame. This 6000-series aluminum has better strength and fatigue characteristics than 6061 and 7000-series aluminums, allowing for a stronger and lighter overall frame. Additionally, the tubing is strategically shaped and formed for additional stiffness and strength optimization in key stress areas

Trail-Oriented Cargo Bike

Blackborow is a cargo bike rooted in the same established fat bike geometry as our Mukluk and Beargrease models. The front end is compatible with all our rigid fat bike forks and also fat-specific suspension forks. The ability to run multiple wheel and tire sizes allows you to customize the target experience and fine tune the ride height as needed. The mid-length chainstays and a custom rack that can handle four full-size panniers or countless custom systems are what set Blackborow apart. When Blackborow is sensibly loaded (see our packing guidelines here), the bike still feels well balanced, and is a pleasure to ride on winding trails compared to other long-tail cargo bikes. Blackborow is all about new possibilities, and owners will find themselves able to merge an array of other interests into their two-wheeled adventures

Framepack & Bag Options

Salsa EXP Series frame packs, top tube bags, and the Anything Cradle fit the Blackborow straight away. Our Anything Cage and Anything Cage HD can be used on the Kingpin fork. Most standard panniers fit the rear rack, and custom bags can also be made to fit the stowaway area behind the seat tube

Kingpin Fork

Featuring carbon construction with an aluminum steerer, the Kingpin Fork is lightweight and durable, and features an amazing array of accessory bosses to help you make the most of your Blackborow fat bike: Dual sets of Three-Pack bosses on each leg accept bottle cages or our Anything Cage accessories / Lowrider mounts work with our Down Under front rack for a traditional touring setup / Internal dynamo hub wire routing keeps the front end clean for those upgrading to dyno hubs / 150 x 15mm thru-axle design boosts stiffness and aids in solid tracking on the trail

Rear Rack Included

Designed to carry four (4) rear bicycle panniers, and particularly suited to carrying large volume, lightweight loads like winter-weight sleeping systems, winter clothing, fishing gear, and extra food. Most common panniers can be mounted. Rear rack capacity = 50kg (110 lb) This is the cumulative weight of all gear, water, food, and the bag/ pannier/containers it is housed in, that is attached to the rear rack

Multiple Bottle Cages & Accessory Mounts

Three bottle mounts per frame (front and back of seat tube, bottom of down tube) and two accessory mounts per frame (bottom of down tube, top of top tube)

Front Fork Wheel & Tire Options

The fork included with this frame works with the following wheel and tire combinations: 26 x 3.8–5.0" on up to a 100mm rim / 27.5 x 3.0–4.0" on an 80mm rim / 29 x 2.3–3.0" on a 50mm rim

Rear Wheel & Tire Options

Compatible with 26 x 3.8–4.33" tires on up to 100 mm rim, 27.5 x 3.25–4.0", or 29 x 2.3–3.0"

1x and 2x Drivetrain Compatible

This frame is compatible with both 1x and 2x drivetrain setups. A removable direct-mount front derailleur bracket allows for clean 1x build

197 x 12mm Symmetrical Rear Spacing

Results in a strong rear wheel and frame; maintains proper chainline with crankset

Dropper Post Compatible

Frame accommodates internal routing for a dropper post

FAQ

Will the Manitou Mastodon suspension fork fit on my (mid/NEW) Blackborow?

<table><tbody><tr><td height="21" width="599">Blackborow Mid Alu = Yes</td></tr></tbody></table>

What wheel and tire sizes can I run on this bike?

Compatible with 26 x 3.8–4.33" tires on up to 100mm rim, 27.5 x 3.25–4.0", or 29 x 2.3–3.0"

What is the weight limit on the rear rack?

Rear Rack Capacity = 50kg (110 lb) This is the cumulative weight of all gear, water, food, and the bag/ pannier/containers it is housed in, that is attached to the rear rack. See the Blackborow Rack Instructions for more information about packing and other weight considerations.

What bags can I use with this frame?

Blackborow is compatible with our EXP Series Fat HT framepacks, the EXP Series Toptube bag, Anything Cages and Bag, and the EXP Series Anything Cradle. The rear rack is compatible with our Touring Panniers and most other standard size rear panniers. You can also reference the Blackborow Frame Bag Guide to aid in creating custom bags for the rear rack and frame.

Can I use a suspension fork on this frame?

Yes, this frame was designed and tested for use with a suspension fork with an axle-to-crown length up to 511mm (typically 100mm of travel). Check the fork manufacturer’s specifications to ensure the model and travel combination you intend to use is equal to or less than this length. Using a longer length fork will void the frame warranty and could result in frame failure. Forks with 51mm offset are strongly recommended, but 45mm offset is also acceptable (increases mechanical trail by 6mm).

Do you offer touch-up paint?

No, we do not offer touch up paint. Hobby shops or automotive stores are excellent places to find paint. We suggest you test the paint on a scrap piece of metal before using it on your frame.

I crashed and dented (or cracked) my frame. Is it safe to ride?

Stop riding your frame immediately and take it to the nearest Salsa authorized dealer for inspection. A dented or cracked tube represents a structural weakening of the frame, and is a safety risk.
