Spearfish C Deore Di2
Spearfish C Deore Di2
Spearfish C Deore Di2 is an endurance XC MTB built to cover as much ground as possible, no matter how challenging. Its light, responsive carbon fiber frame meshes perfectly with the efficiency of our Split Pivot suspension design for finely balanced pedaling and braking performance. 120mm of front and rear travel soaks up all the technical terrain you’ll find on your local loop, bikepacking race, and beyond. The geometry allows efficient pedaling for chasing FKTs, and grants a boost of confidence on terrain that wants to throw you off your game.
Spearfish makes it easy to pack for big days out, with space for up to three bottles (sizes MD–XL), and cargo and accessory mounts that can also accommodate a sizeable direct-mount frame bag if that’s your jam. Shimano’s Deore Di2 groupset offers effortless, speedy electronic shifting so you can preserve every ounce of mental and physical energy as you push your limits.

Additional Features
Split Pivot rear suspension design
Split Pivot provides a host of impressive suspension characteristics because the system isolates pedaling forces and braking forces from each other, allowing us to tune and optimize the bike for both independently. The concentric rear axle pivot, in conjunction with precise wheel link, brake link, and control link placement, results in excellent bump compliance and pedaling efficiency, smooth and predictable braking throughout travel, and maximum traction.
Split Pivot + design methodology
The Split Pivot+ design methodology allows our engineers to optimize a frame for more than one travel class. This means that Spearfish riders can adjust rear travel from 100–120mm rear and fit forks from 100–130mm.
Carbon fiber frame
High-modulus carbon fiber frame, seatstays, and chainstays with carbon fiber shock and control links for weight, stiffness, and durability.
Endurance XC geometry
Spearfish is designed on the premise that precision and efficiency equal speed. Spearfish’s renowned pedigree in ultra-endurance racing has informed every geometry choice here. The sub 66.3-degree head tube angle combined with 430mm chainstays provide confidence at speed without sacrificing agility, with a flip chip to further tune to your liking. A 77.3-degree seat tube angle maintains a comfortable pedaling position for long days in the saddle.
Flip chip
A flip chip allows a simple and quick 5mm adjustment to bottom bracket height and 0.3-degree adjustment to head tube angle to account for your personal preference, terrain, or tire diameter.
Purpose-tuned suspension
Spearfish-specific control link and shock links optimize the frame geometry and kinematics for its suspension travel, delivering a precise, efficient ride feel.
Maximum bottle capacity
Stay hydrated on long rides with space for two bottles on sizes XS–SM; sizes MD–XL fit three bottles.
Accessory mounts
Spearfish's main triangle features accessory mounts for bolting your repair kit.
Top tube accessory mounts
Top tube mounts accommodate the Salsa EXP-R Series Trillium Top Tube Bag or K-Edge Top Tube Mount for bike computers.
Molded frame protection
Molded rubber down tube, seat tube, chainstay, and seatstay guards protect your frame from impacts and abrasion
FAQ
What travel configurations can I run on the Spearfish?
Spearfish is capable of running rear travel between 100-120mm and fork travels between 100-130mm of travel. Spearfish uses metric rear shocks in the 190mm eye-to-eye length with strokes between 37.5mm and 45mm to adjust the rear travel in roughly 6.5mm increments with each 2.5mm change in stroke length starting at 100mm rear wheel travel for a 37.5mm stroke shock. We recommend pairing fork travel to match rear travel or over forked by 10mm.
What is the difference between the Deluxe Carbon layup and the Standard Carbon layup?
The Deluxe Carbon layup uses higher modulus carbon fiber in key areas of the front triangle, seatstays, and chainstays so reduce weight. We focused the Deluxe layup on weight reduction only, a MD Deluxe frame is about 250g ligher than a MD frame in the standard carbon layup. The Deluxe layup still has the same great ride quality as the standard layup as we did not want to jeopardize that as part of reducing weight.
Can I run a mixed-wheel setup on this bike?
We do not recommend the use of 27.5" rear wheels on Spearfish.
What length dropper post can I fit?
Dropper post length depends on multiple factors. Our friends at Park Tool have created a guide to help you determine the right size for your bike. Read the guide here.
How does the geometry change if I use a suspension fork with 130mm of travel?
Do you offer touch-up paint?
No, we do not offer touch up paint. Hobby shops or automotive stores are excellent places to find paint. We suggest you test the paint on a scrap piece of metal before using it on your frame.
I crashed and dented (or cracked) my frame. Is it safe to ride?
Stop riding your frame immediately and take it to the nearest Salsa authorized dealer for inspection. A dented or cracked tube represents a structural weakening of the frame, and is a safety risk.
What is the warranty for this bike?

How many water bottles can I fit on my frame?
XS & SM frames can fit two 26oz water bottles inside the front triangle. The MD can fit either two 26oz water bottles utilizing the seat tube and middle or lower two down tube bottle bosses or one 26oz water bottle and two 20oz water bottles for a total of three. The LG & XL frames can fit either two 26oz water bottles utilizing the seat tube and middle or lower two down tube bottle bosses or two 26oz water bottle and one 20oz waterbottles for a total of three.
XS-XL Configuration For 2 Water Bottles
Where can I mount my tool roll and pump?
If you want to use a tool/tube mount like the Salsa Anything Bracket Mini or similar two bottle mounting attachment it is best to run it on the lower set of down tube bottle bosses and push the water bottle up to the next pair of water bottle bosses. For mounting a pump bracket we recommend running it up one bottle boss from the bottom on the downtube to provide clearance so it doesn't hang below the downtube. This will mean it is often offset to the water bottle cage or accessory mount.
