Additional Features
Split Pivot® Rear Suspension
The concentric rear axle pivot in conjunction with precise wheel link, brake link, and control link placement, results in several performance gains: Exceptional bump compliance / Maximum traction / Incredible pedaling efficiency / Predictable braking / Improved frame geometry due to the elimination of unwanted suspension movement during acceleration and braking
Backcountry Singletrack and Endurance Racing-Specific Suspension Travel
Within Deadwood's 91mm rear wheel travel is a surprising amount small bump sensitivity and supple braking performance. A progressive mid stroke provides support heading into and out of corners. Even on the bigger hits, the travel just doesn't seem to want to run out. The volume of 29+ wheels and tires and the tuned anti-squat of the Split Pivot® suspension on the Deadwood lead to an efficient bike that shelters you from the bumps that would otherwise make for taxing hours and days. For 2018 Deadwood leverages the increased tire capacity of the latest RockShox 29er fork offerings to increase the front-end travel without affecting the overall frame geometry. This pairing results in 120mm of front end travel and up to 29 x 2.8" tires. For riders looking for that extra bit of traction, a 100–110mm travel 29+ specific fork can be still be fitted
Ample Tire Clearance
Deadwood is designed to use rear tires ranging from 2.6" to 3.0" in width on up to 45mm rims via BOOST 148 spacing. This tire size offers up huge traction, smooth rolling, and increased momentum, great for putting in miles and miles over extremely varied terrain with a planted and confident feel. But with a simple tire swap down to standard 29" widths (2.2–2.5"), Deadwood gets a snappier, faster accelerating feel, making it better suited for high-octane pursuits and any trail riding where increased agility is desired
Deadwood Geometry
Like its predecessor Spearfish, Deadwood continues pairing slack and low "trail bike" style geometry—68° head angle and 45mm BB drop—with travel amounts usually reserved only for steep and twitchy race bikes
High-Modulus Carbon Fiber Front Triangle and 6066-T6 Aluminum Stays
This material offers improved stiffness, better vibration damping, excellent toughness, and weight savings compared to other materials. This frame offers 340g weight savings over the aluminum version. 6066-T6 aluminum heat-treated seatstays and chainstays are paired for durability
Interior Junction Control Molding Technology
We use interior molds at all the main front triangle junctions during layup and curing. This allows for precise control of wall thickness and inner wall smoothness in these areas. This process increases compaction and reduces voids and wrinkles in critical high stress zones. The end result is a high-quality, consistent performing carbon frame
Full-Size Bottle Compatible
Front triangle is capable of fitting a full-size (28 oz) water bottle
PressFit 41 x 92 mm Bottom Bracket
Compatible with all 1x and 2x standard mountain cranks, both GXP and 24mm spindle types
Modular Front Derailleur Bracket
The high direct mount front derailleur bracket is removable, with a smooth cover blank to take its place, when 1x drivetrain is setup, providing a clean look and saving a few extra grams in the process
